  • help me get some forearm rotation...

I have the forearm rotation of a man in a straight jacket. My swing path is ok, but my clubface remains open.

Know of any drills that I could perform to get some more rotation so I can knock em straight? Thanks

Are you sure it's arm rotation? I never try and rotate my arms because if I do it introduces less control to my swing which leads to inconsistency. I would advise you, before fiddling with the swing, to check your grip foremost ... see the site library. Also make sure your left wrist is not arched at address and that the wrist angle in relation to the arm does not change throughout the swing.

Today I went to the golf expo up at the IceBox in Scranton. They had one of those screens you could drive into.

After the ball landed (about 100 yards right of the fairway for me) they show the plane your club came in and the angle of the clubface.

      My plane was perfect.
The angle was about 45 degrees open. ouch.

        rotation

        Hi Blue Jay,

I have to agree with Paul's earlier comment. You swing can be picture perfect, but if your grip is not correct, your club face will not close properly. In a neutral grip position you should only be able to see 2 knuckles on your top hand. I used to have a similar problem as you and it was because my grip was too strong. I was able to see all 4 knuckes on my top hand. It is almost impossible to close your clubface if your grip is THAT strong.

          "assuming"

assuming everthing else is "perfect", you can bow your left wrist (assuming you're rt handed) at impact which will help you rotate your forearms for a release.

just beware of trying to "communicate" by text...

          good luck.

          ps: nice avatar.
