  • A short Blog entry that's not really a blog entry..

    Howdy...

Haven't blogged much of late as I've been busy at work in the lead up to the end of our Financial Year, though I've still managed to sneak a couple of rounds in over the last 4 weeks.

My last 3 rounds have all been of the same stuff, good golf for the majority, with 3-4 bad shot selection decisions leading to blow out holes and killing my score.

Played Eynesbury GC, a new course here, for the second time on a Public holiday Monday a few weeks back and was 6 over the card thru 12 holes before the wind got up. Finished with a net 75 on the day. The funny moment of the day was on a 188m (206yds) par 3 which was playing dead into the wind. First I took 3 iron, back in the stance, tried to punch it low into the wind, hosel rocketed it right into a dam. So, then I decide to take driver, and promptly hit a beauty to 15 feet.

My last 2 rounds at my home club have seen me finish in the "buffer zone" with a pair of net 73's. Last weeks was worthy of note as it included 6 double bogey's and 3 birdies. It was again a case of a couple of poor shot selections and several putts burning the edges and not dropping that saw me score as I did.

Right now I am striking the ball well, am as confident with my new putter and short game as I have ever been, and yet I am only just playing to my new handicap.

Bottom line, I know I am close to another low round (or two) that will hopefully see me reach yet another of my golfing goals, single figures...

    Thanks for reading...
    Cheers.

More of the same yesterday, another round in the buffer zone and no handicap adjustment. Though 37 Stableford points was enough for me to win my grade in the day comp.

After carding only 6 points (3 2 pointers and 2 scratches) for the first 5 holes, I then went on a "birdie blitz" with birdies at 3 of the next 4 holes to make the turn with 20 points.

The back 9 was all pars & bogeys and I would card a further 17 points. Disappointed to scratch the relatively easy par 5 18th hole.

Of the 3 holes I would scratch, 2 resulted from from poor tee shots and one was just poor putting after a bit of a brain fade and charging a 45 foot big breaking up hill putt about 20 feet past.

At least Mum will be happy to see my name in the paper this morning...

      Cheers
