Recently, I made up a chart where the columns are the numbers 1 through 9 and the rows say drive, approach, pitch, chip and putt. Then I use the chart when I play to record whether each shot is good or bad. Afterwards, I will look at the chart to see which type of shot has the highest percentage of bad shots. Obviously, I need to practice all aspects of my game on a regular basis. But, do you think this is a good way of determining which part of my game needs the most help?

Re: Tracking my shots
Your system will give you specific info on where your game could use improvement. The next issue is to know how to practice correctly to improve in those specific areas. All this without letting the rest of your "better" game deteriorate due to poor, or no practice in those areas. Your are on the right track. GJS
Here is some info that might help with your short game:

Re: Tracking my shots
hi
i use one of the course master books you get at most courses and i mark with a 1 with a felt tipped pen where my drive lands and 2 for where my second shot lands and so on them put it all only my computer when i get home and then wipe the felt tip pen off the book so i can use it again next week.
i have photo copied each hole on to my computer and put a 1 where each drive lands and 2 for the second shot and so on and over the year i can see on each hole where each ball lands and where i get the balls landing in a bunch and its easy to see what holes are causing problems and why.
its quick to do on the course as your only putting down one number at a time and the course master books are good so you can easily work out the distance of each shot.
i had toyed with the idea of adding what club i used on each shot but not done that yet as this seems to be working well for me.
cheers
bill
