A buddy hits a drive on number 1 that hits the tee marker square and ricochets back and sticks in the siding of the pro shop. That was ten years ago, the ball is still there!

I'm on the 10th tee, a short 4 par, two up when my opponent tops one in the pond in front of the tee. Being the smart match play player that I am I put my 3 wood back in the bag, pull out my 4 iron and follow him in. Did go on to halve the hole.

I step up to the first tee at the tourn. I tee it up, and I take a monster swing with my 3-wood. I look up to follow the ball, only its not there. I look around the sky, and wonder where the hell is it. Nobody else I'm playing with knew where it was. I'm thinkin Jeezus what the hell was that? I bent down to pick up my tee and I see that the turf is turned up for about 3 inches and i look down and there is my ball, buried in the ground.

        Man, that sucked.

          Paterick,
I was wearing a roll neck top with callaway golf written on it. "no collar no golf" If I had bought the top from their golf shop I would of wrapped my 9 iron around his neck.
P.S £16.00 for a polo shirt before I could play!!!! ( what a way to generate sales)

          Embarrissing,

Not shouting fore then having to walk across to your ball with four sets of eyes burning a hole in your head.
          "Tough shot comming up"

          Save the best for last.

Mobile phone going off in the middle of the captains speach at the annual presentation.

          Shot at dawn.

          Ian.

My most embarrassing shot has to be the one that I sliced which went over the road at the edge of the course and hit a private house. I couldn’t get that hole done and on to the next quick enough!!!

Long straight Par 4 ....narrow entrance to the fairway....

Line up the shot....take a deep breath....easy back swing and launch through the ball.

                Then DUCK !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The ball hits a tree 20 yards ahead of me and 15 feet to the left !

I play my second shot from 30 feet south of the Tee box !!!

Fortunately everyone ducked in time and no one was hurt...I swear the ball would have been somewhere in next week had it missed the tree though !

How can you concentrate on the rest of the hole after that though.

                Nic

One time I was lucky enough to be playing in a pro-am at the K-club.
I was trying to get loose by swinging 2 clubs together just before I teed off infront of a small crowd of spectators.
As I was swung back I smacked Darren Clarke in the side of the head..lucky for me he saw the funny side of it

Re: Most Embarrissing Things on a Golf Course

Unfortunately, I have had an experience unlike any other. *Note: those with weak stomachs may wish to ignore.

Anyhow, I was visiting a local course with a friend of mine and are playing away. Approaching the 8th tee, I start feeling a rumbling in my stomach. At this point, I am guessing it will pass, and that by the time we complete the next two holes, we will be near enough to the clubhouse that I can "relieve" myself. Anyway, we play through the 8th and things aren't gettting any worse, so as I clean up my short putt for par, I am thinking all is well.

Here is where things turn for the worst. We approach the 9th tee and I hit my drive perfectly down the center of the fairway. Being a long par 5, I have set myself up perfectly for an approach to the green. As I setup for my second shot, the rumble is back, this time with a vengance. I decide to stick it out and play away. The approach shot lands just right of the green, pin high, and an easy 10 foot chip to the cup. However, by the time my buddy takes his stroke and we approach the green, I am feeling extremely uncomfortable. I warn my friend that I will need to hurry and rush through the hole...and proceed to miss the chip and the following putt to convert my eagle to a par. (This really only matters because I was working on the front round score of my life at the time)

So we start up the hill toward the clubhouse (in what seems to be the slowest cart ride of my life) and about that time my muscles can no longer hold back the inevitable. Needless to say, I was beginning to feel a bit embarrassed. My buddy slammed on the brakes, I ran full-speed into the bathroom and lost a good pair of underwear that day.

After that experience, I was not able to "comfortably" complete my round. Next time I feel a rumble in my stomach, I will listen.

Just the other day I was golfing with my friend. I was siting in our cart waiting for him to hit his secound shot and i was about 5 feet up from where he was shooting. my instincts told me to get out of the cart just in case he duffs it..well it wasn't him who duffed it. cause just after i get out of the cart we here FORE!!!! i duck and all of a sudden a ball cranks the tire on cart and flies 20 yards back. Ahh if it wasn't for my friends in inconsistent swing i would have been pegged! he did duff the next shot not because of a real bad swing, but because we both couldn't stop laughing at what just happened.

On vacation, I teed-off on a 380 yard par 4. As I swung, the shaft snapped and the clubhead went flying 15 yards down the fairway. BUT, the ball popped-up, got caught in a headwind and landed 20 yards BEHIND the tee box. So now I have no driver and I'm lying 2, 400 yards away!

I finally talk a buddy into playing a real 18 hole course. He's doing fine, but sweating that he'll make a fool of himself. I assure him he's doing ok. The 9th hole second shot approach short par 4. I tell him to swing away. He smacks the hell out of the ball. Sticks it on the green. Unfortunately, it was the practice putting green where about half a dozen people are practicing. Oooooppppps.
