Finally I have achieved the Snead squat! After months of trying, I did it without trying. Bloody game.
I know the strike isn't as pure on this one as the first video above, but that's just a timing issue. I'm now no longer smothering the ball and squeezing it out "silly low" and somewhat rightish!
Just gotta get my arms to stop shorter and not cock my wrists so much in the back swing to be able to get some proper good lag into impact.
Only watched both videos once and for some reason I like the look of the second one.
I am no swing guru but I will say it looks good.
You say you are almost there, what is your next goal..?
Nickers
Hey Nickers, thanks.
I like the second one too because I actually keep my head back and my left knee gets out from under me at the start of the downswing so that my turn through is supported.
In a sense I'm almost there because I feel like I'm closer to where I should be. However, I still need to work on my tempo and not forcing the club around me. I'm slowly learning what it feels like to truly swing the club around me, and it's linked to tempo. Slower is better.
I'm finding the slower I swing, the more power there is and the better accuracy I get, and the more in control I feel. This really is a gentle game of ours.
The other main thing is (and you won't see it from this angle) is that I still approach the ball too far from the inside. meaning I have to time a small wrist release to start it straight. If I can come more square into the back of the ball, but still slightly from the inside, I feel like I'll be playing natural golf.
I just sitting back relaxing in motel room with work lap top. I thought I would kill some time and check the web after tea and a few bevvies.
I am playing in the country champs - had a shocker today and got a pro mate to check me out.
He has got me doing a drill to help with my tempo. Thought it may help you.
Anyway, on the range be at the top of your backswing (don't take the club away) and swing the club focusing on the hands being forward of the chest. I aksed why and Dicky said it will help me with my tempo.
He said initially i will hit some c r a p shots but it will help in the long run.
So start the downswing with the hands forward of the chest and finish the same way - hope it makes sense.
