  • Golf hypnosis / subliminal messages

    Hi guys,

What are your thoughts on the mental side of the game? Can subliminal messages presented within a hypnosis session really work? Can affirmations silently fed through hypnotic music really influence the mind and encourage change in our ability to play golf? What are your thoughts on this.

    Golfingly Yours,
    Bogeygolfer.

Just one other thought , do we have any tour playing PGA pros on this site and if so, what are your thoughts on this thread?. Do you use these techniques and if so , how has it benefited your game if at all?
Come on guys and in particular you guys who run this site, what are your thoughts on this aspect of the game. I am led to believe that the top tour players use these techniques. Am I right or wrong in my assumption.

Any feedback will be very much appreciated.

    Bogeygolfer.

Re: Golf hypnosis / subliminal messages

      hi
many years ago i used hypnosis tapes to help me playing chess. it was to relax you and leave your mind open and it also had you play games over in your mind. i have went thought the same thing when playing a medal, the night before i lie in bed and play every hole over in my mind and work out where i want the ball to land and why i want to play the ball to that spot. when you get good at it you can almost see the shot. i have found it has help my game and i got down to playing off 4 doing this and i don't do it so much now as I'm not up there trying to get to scratch any more and now playing of 10.5. i also used a similar tape with my swing tempo in the car on my way to the course. it plays, "1 and 2 - swing, over and over so when you get to the tee the timing still in your head. it does work and the relaxing tape did lower my blood pressure and i could make myself relax when playing chess in the club league. i also found it helped on the golf course more when playing badly to relax and stop you from wanting to toss your clubs into the pond.
      cheers

          Hi,

Any thoughts on this, Bill replied. I want as many thoughts on this thread as possible, obviously the guys who run this site (who I thought were golfers like you and me)ain't got the time to reply, but that is fine.I will widen my scope. I would be most gratefull if anyone reading this thread would post a comment.

          Regards Bogeygolfer.

            Hi

I tried a tape (MP3 actually) with no success, but that might just be me - I also tried a professional hypnotist to give up smoking years ago with no effect; I just lay on the coach hearing her drone on and then went out for a smoke.

I guess like a lot of things you could try it with an open mind and it will either work for you or not

They had a hypnotist at our golf clubs summer ball, he invited the Captain and his wife on stage and put them under. Much to our amusement he made them think they were a pair of arm chairs, the problem was he could not bring them out of the trance and they had to be taken to hospital. The Vice Captain called in the morning to ask how they were, a Doctor told him they were both quite comfortable.
