Re: Here is a challenge for you all/question!!!

This is a great drill to beat the shanks:

Place three balls in a row, all touching and the row pointing back towards you. Remove the middle ball, address the outer ball, now swing and hit the inner ball (not the one you addressed), leaving the outer addressed ball in place. You may find you hit both a few times but stick with it until you consistently hit the inner ball only. This will improve your swingpath so that you will get the right feel and shank no more.

What is the best drill to hit the ball first before taking a relatively
      shallow divot?

If you spend time working out why you are doing it you will hit one. Who cares what causes a shank out of mind out of sight

That's not much help when you have them and they wont go away. Shanks are like any other swing problem: Slices, hooks, pushes, pulls, fats thins etc etc. These things don't tend to fix themselves.

Like any swing fault, there is a reason why the flaw is present. If
shanking is persistent, finding the cause so it can be corrected will
              relieve the frustration.

Aim for the FRONT of the ball...not the back.

Makes good sense to aim for the front of the ball! Thanks.

Been playing quite well recently, incorporating the old 3skills and what have you then out of the blue I hit roughly 10 shanks in a row down the old pracky ground. When you've been hitting it well and are hopefully grooving your swing, there are no words to describe the exquisite horror of this happening. The wave of nausea that came over me was something to behold.

Holding back the feelings of utter terror (important comp next day!)I went back throught he basics and had a bit of success just holding my form through the shot. Just being a bit less eager to get forward and through, nice and stable at address. Did ok and the nearest I got to a shank the following day was a ball below the feet shinny block out right.

Holding form, and swinging around the core as opposed to shifting/moving into the shot was what I took from the lesson! So that's that cured then ..................until it all goes up the pictures again

                            Hey Brian,
will this not promote an out to in/cut path?
Or is it only for dealing with the shanks?

It is only a drill for fixing shanks. It encourages a swingpath that is closer to the body.

it could be your head, if you move your head down your body arms and shaft will follow.now the hosel is in the way.
