  • it was... a good shot

playing a championship course today (oh what a beautiful course) (www.capricorngolf.com) i found myself 120m out for my 2nd shot on a par 4.

I thought to myself "that length is perfect for a high spin shot with a P wedge"

needless to say i couldn't have hit the ball any better than i did. perfect length, slight breeze in my face and took a nice solid divot indicating i hit down on the ball hard to get that excessive spin.

ball lands on the green, 5ft left of the flag, took 1 hop.. at this stage i turned away as i had played the shot and the ball was going to stop dead... then one of my playing partners says "stop ball"... i'm like "what?" only to turn around and see the ball running backwareds off the green, then down the greenside slope.

so from 5ft i've got 30ft. long story short, i LW'd on and putted for par.

another hole, 370m par4 with a 4i layup due to hazard. 190m out. took an easy 5w with a nice fade and placed the ball 20cm behind the hole. easy birdie.

28 stableford points playing off 14. which IMO wasn't bad as the winner only shot 33pts. it was also the first time i played that course. the fairways give the word "narrow" a new meaning.

beautiful course, and the hardest i've ever played.
