I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

The modern high COR drivers have a very thin face and flatten out over time with driver SS's in the triple digits.
It's quite possible that you've simply worn it out if you practice and play regularily with it.

The FW faces are somewhat thicker and therefore stronger due to the lesser size (and can therefore take more impact stress).
