Hi Folks,
New to site, new to golf. Been reading through many posts and let me say that I like the tone of posts and the generoisty of the experienced players who share their know how.
I came to golf at 46. A life long baseball player, still playing competitive hardball till a few years ago. General all around competitive athlete. Two years ago I got hit with a muslce disorder, adult onset muscular dystrophy. Been a VERY long road. was wheelchair bound for some time and still need it on occasion. When I began turning the corner my wife became concerned that I'd have nothing to do over the summer (i'm a teacher) my summers were filled with trainning and running races, etc... so being from a golf family she handed me a club. I don't think I had ever even held a club before. She took me to the range, I was hooked.
I played this summer and by the end of the season I was in low 90's on what is considered a fairly challengeing course. I use stack and tilt out of necessity. Wish I had come across it earlier in the season. I could barely break 100 till I began S&T. It just put great consistency to my swing.
I could not feel more privledged to be well enough to be playing this game and now and again could kick myself for not finding my way to the greens sooner. It is a great game, right up there with baseball. It is also populated with some great folks. Have met many folks this summer who have become my friends.
Just wondering if anyone esle out there is playing with some physical challenges.
Best to all,
