I was wondering if anyone has or knows any info about building a small driving range in my garage. Nothing fancy just something to do in the winter.

It's generally nothing fancy. I use a hitting mat and a 'big daddy' hitting net.
Heat in there is nice, too. -

hi
chipping to a target on the Garage door helps your short game but i spend most time using my boomerang putting mat and work on my putting over the winter months and my some work on my short game chipping into a wastepaper basket and leave my long game to the times i can go to the range.
