Good going puttking. How were you able to record all your stats. It would be great to compare year for year?

Re: My golf stats for 2008

I use a golf diary to note everything down. I then use MS Works. I have seperate databases for each year. I have about 4 different databases, even one where I put in scores on each hole. I played the par 5 14th under par this year (4.97, I think !). The databases don't take long to set up and the reports are easy to write !

My golf diaries go back to 1985 but I only have 2007 and 2008 on my pc !

Great stuff puttking. Might start doing that now. great idea. Recently i've been searching the net for golf score recorders to keep records and stats on my game but i must do a bit of research on creating databases using mircosoft works. Thanks again puttking

The fields I use in my main database are:

Date, Driving, GIR, chipping, bunkers, putting, Putting Average, Out, In and Score.

It's quite easy to note these down on your scorecard. I put a little dot for a fairway hit and I always write down number of putts. From there you can work out GIR. The reports are easy to do. All your looking at is the average for each field. Of course you can have a number of reports. One for each month for example.

My competitions datebase as the following fields:

Date, Comp, Gross, Net, position and money.

I have a competition database similar to my main one And the hole database is a spreadsheet.

Hey Puttking, nice stats, you can get programmes for your mobile these days that you can enter stats in as you go along your round then you can sync it to your pc. I put together a database on excel in which I started entering everything in, unfortunately by the end of the year I only had my gross scores to see what kind of handicap I had at the end of the year. Over my 40 odd rounds I've played this year I averaged 1.3 finishing off the year with a personal best 7 under par 65 in frosty conditions on new years eve. I am now equal with my brother, he shot 65 at Victoria Country club in the Algarve 2 days after they had the Portugese Masters! he would've been tied for 3rd with Retief Goosen.

Nice going! Although a bit nerdy it takes very little effort to keep track on your performance. I run a simple excel sheet myself and with a minimum of input I can identify where the biggest improvement areas can be found. And of course where the training efforts should be put in. As always a good fact based analysis is the safest way towards improvements.

I was working on doing up my own database when i found the web site keepmygolfscore.com. It does more or less what it says on the tin, keeping your golf stats online. Its free and it has a lot of golf courses wordwide already built into its database although i must say there was a good few courses not there from Rep of Ireland but it also has the feature to create your own courses. have a look!!!!
