  • Hitting very near the Hosel

    Hi all,

I went up to the range today as I havn't been able to play for some weeks. ( Damd Weather ) any way I must admit when the range ball leaves a mark on the face of my irons I can see the white ball marks are very close to the Hosel bordering on dare I say bordring a S... (Getting away with it though but its a worry)

Any Ideas without seeing my swing, why this is. I set up with the ball to the centre of the club face. incidently I seem to do the opposite with my woods, generally finding the middleish but also a phew sliding towards the toe.

    Any tips would be appreciated

Your arms will naturally extend a little from your body due to the rotary forces of the swing. Try setting up with the ball nearer the toe.

I always set my driver with the ball near the toe at address. If you ground the driver behind the teed ball at address and centralise it then just lift your arms so that the ball is in the middle of the clubface as it is at impact, you will notice it will now be near the toe.

      Thanks Brian,
I have actually tried setting up with the ball more to the toe doesnt seem to make much difference.

Your mention of the arms moving due to rotary force has got me thinking maybe, this could be the offending element. The next time Iam out will try to keep my arms close to my chest at impact.

will let you know if it works.

Went to the range today as I had a day off work. Ha haa, I made a concious effort to keep my arms closer to my chest during impact and, Iam hitting 90% out of the middle with a beautifull ball flight to boot. cant wait to get out and have a game!

        Thanks goes to Brian
