2 rounds played in the weekend just gone (will blog some details, time permitting) and I had a couple of "moments" worth sharing...
It was our Club's Monthly Medal day on Saturday and having taken 3I from the first tee for safety, only to finish on the wrong side of the fairway, leaving myself having to try to shape my second shot around some trees to the green. Hit that shot well enough, only to come up a little short. Faced with a shot of about 20m to a pin cut only 3 or 4m on, I settled on trying a little flop shot to see if I could get the ball to sit close to the pin. My lie was good and swinging easily through the shot it flew high landed about a foot short of the pin and took one hop and disappeared into the cup.
Not quite a Brian Slam Dunk, but, still a very satisfying birdie.
The other was my tee shot at our 160m par 3 4th hole in my Pennant match yesterday. Being 1 down through 3 holes and having just watched my opponent put his ball pin high on the green, about 20 feet or so from the pin, I knew I needed a good shot to halve the hole at worst. Taking 6I I struck the shot sweetly and it flew straight as a die on line with the pin, the ball pitched on the green and took one hop and came to rest seemingly close. We arrived at the green to find my ball only 2 inches from the hole....
My opponent conceded my birdie putt and then went on to miss his birdie attempt, drawing the game back to all square.
Thanks for reading...
Cheers
