  • Know a good course in North Yorks or Northumberland?

We are going up for our annual golf trip to the Scottish borders on Saturday, June 13th and would like to know if there are any good, but not too difficult courses along the A1/A66? (Goole to Kelso)
We like Dunstanburgh Castle and will play that on the way back down , but one of our number is a bit wary of playing there first, in case he scores 120 and messes up his entire week!
So somewhere a bit more benign would be great . . .

In the absence of any first hand suggestions it might be worth doing some desk research. I like this site.

I looked up Kelso first and then local courses; quite often the "player reports" give you a reasonable feel for the challenge ahead.

Can thoroughly reccommend Kirkbymoorside in north yorks....good track and very friendly....it may be slightly off route...bu ok if using humber bridge route......alternatively....A1 flaxby park near harrogate....400 yards off A1.....or A66..Appleby is a gem
