  • Another water hazard query

What if this water hazard runs parallel to the fairway. Your shot runs along the fairway but rolls off sideways into the hazard. Where do you play from in that case please?

Ball should be dropped one club length on the line of entry into the hazard

No. Line of entry is not relevant. Where did you get that from?

It may be dropped within two clublengths of the point where the ball last crossed the margin but not nearer the hole or a point on the other side of the hazard equidistant from the hole.

In case anyone's not clear, these options are in addition to those for "normal" water hazards.

Point of entry. If it runs 25 yards in the fairway and dives into the hazard, drop where it crossed. If it dives into the hazard and then runs 25 yards, drop where it crossed (betcha wished it stayed in the fairway!)

Don't forget, it's legal to play from the hazard. Just don't ground your club.

The above is only true if its marked as a lateral water hazard (red stakes) if its not (yellow stakes) (and it might not be if its a stream running between two holes for example) then you
              1) replay
              2) drop a ball under penalty of 1 stroke as far back as you want from the point of entry keeping a straight line between the flag and the entry point. Note that this might be on the other side of the hazard.
