Tiger hit his driver so well at The Memorial. Apparently, he changed up to a ten degree loft. He will be a tough to beat at the U.S. Open, if the driver change continues to work the magic. Bethpage Black is a very tough course.

He did increase the loft of the club but I believe he also decreased his angle of attack. -

The reasoning was reported, but I don't remember exactly. Something about preferring the mechanics of particular driver swing but that swing resulted in a slighty lower angle of attack. I can't find anything on the 'net, specifically, but it was mentioned on TV.
As driving accuracy is his problem, he may also benefit from more backspin offseting a bit the effects of sidespin on his misses. Sacrificing distance for accuracy. The ball will also roll out less making the final resting place more predictable, in theroy, at least.Comment
