Seve at St Andrews 2010
Is Seve Ballesteros playing at St Andrews 2010
What an Open Championship... the week was about one man... Tom Watson, yet another amazing story was to come out on the final days coverage by the BBC.
I feared the worst when I switched on the BBC’s coverage on Sunday morning only to catch the beginning of a moving feature on arguably Europe’s Greatest Golfer ever Seve Ballesteros. The footage of past victories and reflective interviews seemed to continually refer to the great man in the past tense. An emotional and moving piece of footage for a sportsman as I have ever seen.
As a kid growing up in the eighties playing junior golf this was the golfer that commanded attention when he stepped onto the golf course, an awesome presence and an amazing artist when he went to work.
At the end of the footage I was relieved to hear Gary Lineker say “we can now speak to Seve live on the phone”. Amazing.. and what a great interview. Inspirational is an understatement. To hear him say that he plans to be competing in the Open at St. Andrews next year (2010) was unbelievable news.
Hopefully we will all get to see this, what a great sight that would be.
