I did my annual golf trip to Toronto this weekend. I went in a 19 and came out a 16.5. While that in itself is very exciting, I lost a whopping 1.3 points by shooting a 43/37 at Black Diamond - the back having 2 bogeys and a bird, the only penalty coming when I pumped a ball into the bush because for the first time that day I didn't get a yardage to the hazard. DOH!

The next day I managed a 44/42 at a waterlogged course - contending with swimming pool bunkers and sopping conditions.

So if I were allowed to 'pick and choose' 9's, I've now got a 73 available to me (having shot a 36 and 37 now)...

I'm rebuilding my clubs to allow me to stand more upright and should allow for a real 'point and shoot' game... it's nice to play how I know I can - glimpses of greatness!

The glaring realisation is that it was putting that kept me in it at Black Diamond. A pair of 3 putts offset by a pair of lengthy 1 putts made all the difference. I didn't "stuff it in there" all day - just a decent first putt leaving nothing worse than 3 feet for the most part all day. Granted, it didn't hurt to hit 12 greens, either - about 8 more greens than I statistically hit.

I'm excited to play tonight in my regular men's foursome and see how I fare.
