Re: Good Looking Practice Swing and Bad Looking Real Swing. Why?
More information required, Is someone telling you this or are you self diagnosing? What do you perceive is the difference between them? How does the ball react when you hit it? Is the practice swing a quick a half swing for eg.or a full copybook run through?

I agree with just about everything Paul Wilson says in that link. If you focus on what he is saying and work on swinging smoothly though the ball rather than trying to hit it you should see some improvements.
Re: Good Looking Practice Swing and Bad Looking Real Swing. Why?
Ive had lessons trying to get my swing more upright as my backswing has always been flat and restricted and he gave me a drill to work on on the driving range about looking at the backswing in the mirror behind me and when its on plane hit the ball! but when i take it to the course its flat? my mates tell me my practice swing is on plane slower and spot on but as soon as the ball comes into play its flat and restricted same old swing!! so my question is...how can i put my practice swing into over the ball???

You must work out what is making your actual swing different to your practice one and work out a way to swing the same way. I imagine you need to slow it down and swing with a smooth tempo with your real swing. Try some mind games like imagining the ball is an image that you can swing the club through, try to get a feel that you want to collect the ball on the way through.

Hi burnie24, I don't suppose you could post a video of your swings? You are currently beaten before you start mentally. From what your friends are saying it sounds like you really stiffen up on the stroke that counts, meaning you end up with no wrist work and a feeling of being cramped for room through the stroke. Could you please tell us what the ball is doing off the club and we could possibly work back from there.
Regards Peter.
How can i put the practice swing into the real swing?
I can't speak for everyone, but the attempt to hit the ball for many, causes them to "stop" their hands at the ball, "throwing" the club head. With no ball, we swing through; with a ball we tend to stop to early, with the club continuing past the hands. The best recent tip I've heard is to feel constant pressure on the trigger finger on the back of club, all the way through to finish. Hogan implies this as the only pressure point of the index finger. The feel of constant pressure, forces you to finish past the ball with the right hand ahead "pushing" the handle with the head lagging behind as it should be. Try pushing a car w/o cupping the right hand..it works.
You appear to be straightening your trail leg in the back swing then lifting up early in the downswing. Try to keep your right knee flexed and keep your spine tilt through impact.
