  • Performance Golf Ball

Is there a ball out there that has the performance (i.e., similar characteristics) of a PV1x that doesn't cost $4/ball? I have played B330's/Calloways Tour 1x/Srixon Zstarx, etc... While the other non PV1x balls performed well, non had the feel to me of the PV1x. And I may have just answered my own question - but wanted to know if there is something out there that I may have missed.

If you can find them the "Volvik" ball line is a pretty decent ball, and is my ball of choice over the "Pro V" line. I keep hearing good things about some of the less expensive Bridgestone balls. Another possibility is the Topflite "Gamer" or any of the other less expensive 3 piece balls. All of these balls I have listed sell for $2.30 or less a piece. Bridgestone is more expensive of the three I listed.

I don't think you will ever find a direct replacement for either of the "Pro V" balls. They are pretty good, but at $4 a ball, that is a stretch of one's pocket book. I think the main selling feature of the "Pro Vs" is that quite a few pros use this ball. But, then again, they do not have to pay for this ball like the higher handicap player does. I have played them both, and imo the extra $2 a ball was not worth what ever "extra" playability I found in them. I play, and score the same with the "Volvik" ball.

The TaylorMade TP balls are pretty good.
