PCS Class 'A' Clubfitter
A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.
Re: What's your chipping club of choice?
I used to be a Pelz-er and chip with anything from 7i to LW. I'll still use Pelz-esque theories to hit low puches or the longer bump and run type shots, but around the green I've got one club that I use exclusively - the 54° sand wedge. I simply didn't have the time to practice and get a feel for everything from 7i to LW... I tried flipping back and forth between the 54 and a 58, but couldn't even get that going - I guess all the spring time (pre thaw) practice with the 54 has created a monster...

I do use a number of clubs from a 7 iron to a lob wedge depending on the lie, carry and roll out required. For short pitches & medium chips I like my Pitching Wedge.

Re: What's your chipping club of choice?
Yes, we all use different clubs, but the survey is if you have a favorite...
I always gravitate to the SW. I like the extra head mass, the ability to close it down in the back if needed, and pinch it tight for more spin if needed. Nothing like the feeling of throwing a 2 hopper and have it stop dead next to the hole...hard to make it happen every time, but worth the fun to try.

Re: What's your chipping club of choice?
I use my 8i more than any other club in my bag to chip with. In a rare instance , on a shorter chip, I might use my LW. Now, Cleveland Golf has come out with a club called a "Niblick" that is same loft as my 8i. I purchased this "Niblick" from a guy a few weeks ago. I am having a heck of a time trying to figure out why I should not replace my regular 8i with this Cleveland club. Even full shots seem to fly better. GJS

Re: What's your chipping club of choice?
hi Greg
not got a favorite club?
i find using the club best suited to doing the job is the best club and using the Pelz-er system as Lowpost called it i find that it works so all my clubs in the bag can be used and I find they work so all are my favorite's.
i think there is two ways to play, use one club and change your swing to made the club works for that shot or use the club you know that will work,
if you use the first systen then you will have a favorite club but if you use the Pelz-er system then all clubs are just tools to do a job and all have diffrent aplications and it just picking the one that best for the job in hand. so no favorite clubs.
cheers
