  • 25 yards OB but landing on the fairway....

    Yup.
    I finnaly developed a 'slice'

Iv been very quite for the last few months. The work on Golf Course has kept me busy as heck. BUT! We now have shiny new Greens Mowers, a new Fairway mower and a very s****y AR5 Slope mower!.
We also have 5 newly Sodded Tees, and 6 redesigned bunkers / bunkerfaces!.
I tell ya, laying 16 full pallets of Sod in one day leaves one feeling "screw golf!, I need a beer!".

    Anyway!
Yes, I got rid of my old steel frame, steel head driver and got myself a graphite/carbon steal shafted Adams Golf TightLies Driver.
"swish" 'tick'....... Banana anyone?. Over the last month Iv developed a nasty swing. Nasty in the fact that I have to aim off to the right of the fairway to get the ball to land on the fairway.
My woods, fine... My irons, cool. (my 5 is my favoret)
I cant for the life of my understand why my swing has changed from an almost straight (okay, 10' to 15' off) flight. The club pro played with my boss and I in a small tourny and laughed his ass off when he saw my ball fly 20 - 30 yards over the deep rough / OB area, and then curve back in to land on the fairway (then bounce across and land in a bunker).
He has promiced me an hour to look at whats going on, Im still waiting.. LOL

The swing seems erratic. One will send the ball straight (off into the deep rough) the next would curve violently to the right. Im not Over Swinging, and Im not Over the top... its quere....

    Anyhow... Enough rambeling.....

    Fraggle,

    You do like tough questions,

The few other things you missed were a tight grip, this is possilbly the only other thing causing a slice. Gripping to tight stops the release properly causing you to hold the face open.

Maybe its just a simple alignment problem, When you slice do you then set up further to the left to compensate??????
This is a big mistake just carry on with a straight set-up.

My only advice is to set your ball up on the far left of the tee box for a couple of rounds, this naturally makes you see the shot differently.

    Good Luck

    Ian.

Aye, in fact, if you slice, setup aimed left, and close your stance.

        fraggle,

Are you only slicing with the new driver or is it all the clubs? If it is just the driver and all other shots are straight, it could very likely be the shaft is too stiff in the new driver. If it is all your clubs, your swing is in need for an overhaul. First things first, makke sure you are not swinging with an outside-in path. Keep the ball in the middle of your stance for every club (except your Driver which should be just inside your front foot's heel). Start with a nuetral grip (you should only see two knuckles on each had when gripping the club. Your grip pressure should be about a 3-4 (if 1 is barely holding the club and 10 is a white knuckle death grip). Keep your backswing slow and start with a halfswing. Only bring the club up to your waist on the backswing and then accelerate through the ball. As you start hitting consistantly, move up to a 3/4 shot. When you have that mastered, then move to a full shot.
