Even after following tips from this forum, i am still a terrible putter. What is the score with these belly and broomhandle putters. Do you think they might help?
hi
broomhandle putters are really great at distant putts but harder from about 6 foot.
the likes of Sam Torance and Bernard Langer could not sink a putt till the changed and both started winning and kept with the long putters. Monty and VJ both have used the belly putter from time to time.
i love the broomhandle putter and it has changed my putting. with the broomhandle putter you only swing your right arm and hand. not other part of your body moves your left hand holds the handle to your chest or chin.

Whilst researching this site recommended by Bill I found this other method of hockey putting. Wow, that made a heck of a difference for me when I tried it today. Will still look for a belly putter but for now I have made an instant improvement. Thank you.

Yep. Took new putting style to a comp yesterday. Blinkin terrific. Holed putts that I could only dream of before. The only prob I have at the moment is the very long putts. It was a bit difficult to judge them and to hit them hard enough. They all ended up short. But I am sure with a bit more time I could do better. But.... if they did end up well short I HOLED the second putt!! Something that would never have happened before.
Hi Bri
good to hear you putting improving. the link you put up has some good pictures of my face on putting style and it a system that works as the only moving part is your right arm.
only diffrence with me is my palm of my right hand faces the hole.
cheers

You have changed my game completely Bill. In a comp I used to shake over putts of even 2ft. I got much more confident after just a few holes. I am still going to try the belly putter. You never know, I might get even better! I have my eye on one on Ebay. I have good judgement on throwing things etc. My wife could never understand why I could not putt.

Hi Bri
i was the same as you. i had years of putting with my Ping pal putter but my putting was so poor and i knew it was not a bad putter.
when i changed to the broomhandled i putted more like Langer and Torance for a few months and putted a lot better and then found the "face on putting" i have never looked back and i would say i have went from the worst putter in the group i play with to the best putter and i am really good from distance.
at first the guys thought my way of putting was a joke but no one thinks it funny now.
all the best
Bill
Cheers mate. My approach irons went to pot yesterday or I would have had a record score for me.

hi Lowpost
yes been side-saddle putting for about 18 months now.
i feel with both eyes looking at the hole it really helps you in judging pace of a ball.
cheers
