  • Normally 280- 300

    I've just been cruising the net looking at golf stuff and was reading a few golf ball reviews. I maybe read 50 reviews on premium balls

    Funny how everyone;

    'Normally' hits it 280-300yds off the tee.
    Everyone has a swing speed of 115mph
    They all hit their 9 iron 150yds
    They all get a lot/ too of spin

    Is this particular to reviewers on golf websites, or are the pros doing the reviews now?

    If the above figures are anything to go by these people must be really shite putters or they'd be teeing it up for money.

    Sadly the obvious bullshit in these reviews renders the whole excercise worthless. Some funny people about.

    Cant argue with most of that. Only the bit about spin, it's a big problem for a certain segment of the playing public. I have had a big problem with it and its taken me a while to get the right club setup to minimize it. I know at least half a dozen sub 5 handicap players with the same issues.

    People often exaggerate their "vital stats" (human nature, for example, my handicap is "3.5", rather than "4") I personally dont think these review sites are worth the time, nothing tells you what you need to know like a couple of rounds of golf with a club or ball. This is why I think the major manufacturers need to start doing more proper demo days at golf courses, not just at driving ranges and golf outlets.
