You can use electrical tape (vinyl tape) on the bottom of the club and hit it off plywood.
I find a lot of players get "lieboarditis" and change their swing some to avoid the noise the lieboard makes.
A different method is to draw a line on your ball with a Sharpie marker and place this vertically oriented, with the line 180 degrees from your target (so that your club will hit it).
Take your swing and look at your clubface. The line will tell you how your lie angle is. It should be perpendicular to your grooves.
