  • Whole In One in Las Vegas

I got a whole in one last week at the Legacy Golf Course in Las Vegas on the sixth whole. I've never broken 100 so you can imagine how excited I was. I ran around like I had won the lottery and the foursome behind us were gracious enough to allow me to have my picture taken on the green holding the flag in one hand and the ball in the other. I shot 103 that day blowing up with triple bogeys on 10, 11, 17 & 18.

When I went back to the pro shop after the round, the guy there just told me congratulations, but my friends told me that that they saw names engraved in stone on the holes where someone had made a whole in one. They also said that the golf course was supposed to register it with the USGA. Has anyone else had this experience? What should have been done?

    First off: Congratulations!
Now on to your question. I do not believe there is any set rule or protocol involving Aces. There are a number of traditions however and they very from location to location.
My one and only Ace came nearly 25 years ago when I was competing in a local tournament. The club manager had me sign my ball and took a polaroid picture of my foursome and it is on display in their pro shop, and I was then told that I had to buy a round for everyone in the clubhouse when I went in. Almost three hundred dollars later, I wish I had just birdied the par 3.
My current club has a long list of names, dates, yardage, club, and conditions for Aces in the 19th hole. There are 61 names on the list, with 9 repeats, two of which have 3

congrats on the hole in one!

Normally hole in ones aren't recorded unless in competition... however this varies from club to club so best get in touch with the head pro there.

PS: lets get that pic up! We will make everyone aware of your achievment!

I would tell you all about my hole in one in Vegas, but you know what they say "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas"

Small world. My brother lives in Vegas, and has a HIO on that same hole. I know this because I had to sign his card. I think his was about 160 yards if I remember right. Congrats on your ace. Of course you purchased beverages afterwards...........
