  • Hooking most of my clubs........

Need some help......16.7 handicap. I'm hooking almost all my clubs. I've been searching old post and gone out and tried all the advice, but nothing worked.
I have a neutral grip, and any more weakening of the grip and my left thumb would be on the left side of the shaft. So I eliminated that. Right hand is facing target.
When I get to impact, I can feel the club closing real hard. I've tried at impact to even hold the club from spinning closed, but it gets real tough on the wrist. When I do this it still hooks anyways. It feels like a piston turning at impact. It started happening least year and now it continues.
I hit the 8-9-PW-SW really well with a slight draw.
Today I tried a Hank Haney tip and put the grip more in the palm of the left hand. It helped. I started hitting some straight shots but 1 out of every 5 was a hook, so I think this is only a band-aid, and not a cure.
Hands are normal size and I use a standard grip.
    Any advice would be appreciated.

    Clint

Making a restricted release may help you. As you come into impact imagine you are making a Karate chop type action with the bottom edge of your left hand. This should restrict your wrists rolling over.

Take a look at this link:

Thanks, I'm heading out now to hit a few....Swinging right now in the house and that puts my left elbow facing the target coming through. Different feeling. Wouldn't mind seeing a slice or 2.
      Thanks again,
      Clint

Hooking as bad as you say usually means your body is stalled out or blocked coming through impact. The body stops turning and the hands race ahead to the ball. Duck hook city (or some people can chicken wing a save).

Figure out why you're blocked and you'll fix your hook.
