Yes easily my 2 hole in ones really stand out for me. I actually didn't see either of them go in the hole because of a bunker in front of the green (different holes). First one in 1991 and second one in 2001, nearly exactly 10 years apart. Maybe I am due for another one ... 2011?
I hit a 1 iron about 6 years ago from around 220 metres to 1 inch in our club championships and tapped in for eagle. I also lipped out for albatrose about 10 years ago on a par 5 and the ball sat about 5 inches to the right of the flagstick.
I'm a golfaholic, no question about that. Counseling wouldn't help me. They'd have to put me in prison, and then I'd talk the warden into building a hole or two and teach him how to play. ~Lee Trevino
First HIO was alone, just sucked jumping there all by my self.
Second was in a 4some, much better after closing the bar.
Third was in a tourny. That sucked too, because the others were assess about it...calling it lucky...sure, it was a low screamer that slammed into the flag, should have run 50 feet off the green, but come on!!! it went in didn't it?!?
The dblE was the best. Hitting into a group of ladies waiving us up to an island green. All I saw was my ball right on line, then a pause, then eruptions...at first I though I killed one of them, but there were still 4 there, so I knew something good happened.
My Mom, on a side note, just had her 3rd HIO last week! I can't wait to retire...
A mishit 6 iron in 2002, that was pulled short and left. However the contours ensured my ball was hole bound! I'd actually turned away in disgust and was given a commentary by my partners who "thought" it had gone in, so I didn't see it. Never mind at least we won the hole!
One of my partners then suggested that I should take the ball out of play and keep it, which I did.
He then regailed the story to me of when the same thing had happened to him and he didn't take the ball out of play. He then hit his drive on the 18th only to have some kid come up and pinch his ball, never to be seen again!
I won my second Club Championship at the weekend, a long 36 hole final against a class act who has played at the highest level (British Seniors Open) in the recent past. I shot -1 in the morning to be 4 up (which flattered me to be honest) and managed to hold on when he came screaming back at me with a birdie blitz in the afternoon to win 2&1.
Well, it was a greensomes competition, my partner teed up on the first (a 267 yard par 4) and put it out of bounds, i stepped up and put mine out of bounds, he stepped up again, and again it sailed out to the right and out of bounds, up i stepped driver in hand, hoping i kept this in play or we may aswell walk off right there. I hit this drive, walked up to the green and saw the group who had just left the green shouting at me, i thought i had hit them to be honest or was out of bounds (typical golfer thinking negatively) turned out i had holed it on a par 4, but because of the out of bounds, it is just my best birdie ever!!
