  • Clicking in left wrist

    hey everyone.
this is my first post. i am glad to find this website. i have a question. i just started playing the game about a yr ago. i am alright i shoot in the 80s to lo 90s. the last few wks i have been developing a flop shot of sorts. im not sure if its exactly how its supposed to be done but basically i open up and take a very wristy swing on the plane of the target not my body. it works very well but now the last few days when i take a backswing on my normal swing my left wrist pops. does anyone know what may be causing this problem?

ill try to explain my swing a little. i modeled it after anthony kims. i start with my wrists kind of. the idea of this was to get it on plane and get the clubface slightly open.

    PLEASE HELP

My question would be is this flop shot of yours working for you? If it's working, just keep practicing what you are doing. Don't get real involved in swing mechanics with this shot. Just visualize the shot, and hit it.

I have a flop shot that I am quite proud of. It has saved me many strokes over the years. I have no fear of using it with my 9i to my LW when close to the green. I have even used a longer clubs when I needed some height, and distance. My favorites are my AW, and LW. All I can tell you is I square the club up with my target, I open my stance, and shoulders up, and then swing along my toe line. I honestly have know idea what my hands/arms are doing. It's a shot I practice a lot, and is pretty much the same swing mechanics I use getting out of bunkers, and some rough.

The only real issue I pay attention to is what kind of lie I have to deal with. Some lies will not allow for a flop shot. Sometimes I might weaken my grip to help get some extra height when needed in certain situations. The other thing I do is I am not afraid to swing the club. A tentative swing won't work with a flop shot. As for ball position, that is where practicing this shot comes in handy. Mine is roughly in the middle of my open stance, but I have seen others play the same shot with different ball positions. Find what works best for you.

Now I am wondering what my hands, and arms are doing.........lol GJS
