  • Seeing it, nailing it.

I was having heaps of trouble with my drives, hitting only the inside and heel of my club, People tried to help but I just couldn't get it. I found this site and being someone who learns best using visual rather than reams of text this site helped me. I was hoping for some discussion. There are things which are common to each swing in getting it to the impact zone

    Hi Peter
one thing i find is that a lot of golfers pick up there driver and can only think, "Hit" and "Distance" the thought of swing goes out the window.
if you slow your swing and try and feel the clubface on the ball you will train yourself in hitting more sweetspot hit.
putting the club face on the ball close to the sweep spot is more important than giving it all power you can in hitting the ball.
full 100% power in handicap golfers in not controled golf. your better playing 95% or less as you control the ball more.
the pro golfers and very low handicap golfers can do both:- apply power and sweet spot hits us higher handicap golfers can't.
    cheers

You are definitely right Brian, now I am hitting the spot I am getting straighter and longer drives without trying to hit the cover off the ball. Studying those vids allowed me to isolate the problem and fix it. Now I just have to groove it so it becomes natural. I hit 16 fairways yesterday at competitive distances, now if I could only putt.....
