Bear in mind that playing off 19 I've been scoring in the 80s more often than not and thought I was improving. The wheels came off yesterday and I recorded a 132 - seriously 132, worst in 40 years. Thing is I'm due out on the same course in 2 hours! Maybe I'll just hide in my room. Equivalent of falling of a horse I suppose but how the hell do I get back on.

Re: Car Crash Golf
Selective Memory Loss......
Suggest you forget the 13./...,dglbhdfabkldaf
Sheesh, I can't even type a number that large... LOL
You've played this course before, you've shot in the mid 80's many times before, you know that "other" number was AN ABERATION!!!!
FORGET IT...
It never happened, have the administrators of this blog site delete this thread and with it any mention of the "other" number....
Or, find someone to sell your clubs to and take the proceeds down to your local and have a night out...
Something like that...

Re: Car Crash Golf
I am not making light of your 132. You should be commended for even admitting such a feat. However, I would like to know what was continuously going wrong to warrant such a number?
I once had a poor round going, having problems with my longer clubs. I wound up playing the last 11 or so holes with just a 6i, and my putter as they were the only clubs not causing me grief that day. Another time I played the last 8 holes with just a PW, and putter. I had hit a couple of fatties with my PW which frustrated the heck out of me. I figured the round was shot so some PW practice was in order. I have not had a problem with my PW since. When I go to Texas to visit family, I play on a course that I simply can't break 90 on, and sometimes just barely break 100 with a few 99s to my credit. I can get off the tee alright on this course, but after that, my approach shots, and putting are just terrible. Don't know why, as there is nothing really special, or different about this course from others I play. Perhaps it's those "Texas Cart Girls".

Re: Car Crash Golf
Great to meet up today Robin, I enjoyed it.
Maybe the answer is closer than you think
The main idea in golf as in life I suppose, is to learn to accept what cannot be altered and to keep on doing ones own reasoned and resolute best whether the prospect be bleak or rosy. Bobby Jones

Re: Car Crash Golf
Hi Brian
Good to meet up; and next day at Leominster I had a pretty good round - loved the course - including the "shot of the day", a rescue club carrying over a pond to the 18th green in front of the assembled membersand I stroked in the two putts for a lovely regulation par.
So what happened on Monday (GJS)? Big big trouble of the tee and for various reasons (longish car drive and strong pain killers before going straight out, ego, etc) didn't dial down to a club I could get away safely. The week improved through

Sounds like you fared better with the big stick. Nice bit of weather the last few days as well.
