    What is the proper ruling?

    One foursome, 2 teams, matchplay. I was in a greenside bunker, and my partner was already on the green. I hit my bunker shot on the green, and hit his ball. Is there a penalty for my partner not marking his ball? Or do I play where my ball lies, and we replace his ball to where it was before I hit it? Or is there a different ruling?

    My understanding is the latter. You replace his ball as near as possible and play yours from where it lies with no penalty in either stroke or match play. See Rule : 18 - 5
