    would this be suitable for male golfers (smaller frame)

    i find i hit my driver just as long and maybe a bit straighter if i grip lower down.

    No reason why not. The idea that a 220lb 6'5" man should use the same club as a 140lb 5'5" man is nonsense. I suspect Laura Davies uses men's spec.

        The important factor is whether you can control the club such that you make good impact with the ball. If you do this with a shorter shaft then use one.

          You are probably using a driver that is 1) too Long 2) Not enough loft 3) shaft too stiff. A Ladies driver will take care of that problem,however if you don't have small hands the grip will be too small.

          The best bet is go to have your swing checked out on a launch monitor for proper specs for your swing.
