  • Right Arm Action...

    Hellooo,

Not been on here for some time, sure sign the dark nights are back Damn!

Oh well springs not far off LOL.

Moving on - Any thoughts fellow members of what your perception is of how the right arm works through the swing, this is from a RH player perspective.

I was hitting a few balls today of the artifical lawn we have at our course Driving Range. I was striking the ball fairly well, and was tinkering a bit as I usually do, at the moment of impact I was making a consious effort to make my right arm snap straight I must admit this didnt do my swing any harm and the strike felt much more solid. Hence this isnt something I would normally do.

My Question is, is this something that should or shouldn't be done in the swing.

    Re: Right Arm Action...

    Yes, I think it is.

In my opinion the golf swing is powered mainly by the right arm (right hander) It is in effect an underhand throw of the grip by the right hand. You can only carry out this action effectively by snapping the right arm straight. Try throwing a cricket ball underhanded, you have to push the right arm out straight to create speed. The left arm is the support and guide that does create some force but not so much as the right.
