  • An observation, re:bad feeling.

Hi all, I have no clue to what has occurred here, but just thought I would mention that as well as being a part of this family , I joined a couple of others in my thirst for golfing knowledge. I ended up a target for some very nasty people. Now, you all know me and I behaved no different on these 2 other sites. On one I got savaged when I came to the aid of another member. The other I was attacked by a pack who followed the alpha male on the subject of ..get this, sunglasses. Lots of capital letters etc. I left both sites feeling wounded and upset. I tell you this for the benefit of new comers. I have experienced only respect, acceptance and help from the members here, whether in agreement with my contributions or not. I feel very pleased to be a part of this community and urge others to not be put off and you will be welcomed.

    Best regards, golfshooter.

    well said GS

sites that allow that are poorly moderated, people should be able to post their points of view without being subjected to personal attacks

wont be tolerated here, thats for sure

I also witnessed a couple of attacks on other forums (which included one of the threads you mentioned) and to be honest they do not help the site or the people involved. We're all here to learn and to give back and of course at times we will have a difference of opinion but that's life. I think people should think about how they would behave offline and replicate that online. I think some people thing the rules about respect and decency don't apply online.

I have been guilty of being abrupt at times but later apologized, that's just not a good thing to do to others.
I know the sites you probably are referring to and they exemplify what's wrong in our world...folks who are not willing to accept another opinion without personally attacking without compromise. In the US, we have developed a terrible problem with certain political factions-one old and one new who are both not happy unless they criticize the party in power day in day out, they are relentless, without any decorum or integrity, and without any concern for what that type of behavior does to others.
I must be getting old because sometimes I yearn for the good old days when folks could disagree without being disagreeable.
Welcome and you have a friend here.

          Welcome

          Thanks for your comments Golfshooter.

Yes it has happened to me too. I think some golfers have the mindset that they are always right and seem to forget that there are many ways to play this game. There are obviously certain basic fundamentals that should be followed by everyone but there are also many exceptions to the rule. Something that works for me may not work for others.

People that attack others on forums are just trying to devalue others and raise their own value. We are all here to help and sometimes that gets lost upon some members.

Happy to help out anyway I can.

          Cheers
