  • Choosing the right club (driver, hybrid)

    Hi,

I just started playing and just finished full swing lesson not long ago. just realized that i can hit with my iron sets quite straight considering that i'm pretty new to the game. when i start hitting with my driver or hybrid it doesn't seem that i can hit it properly. (it might be due to the different shaft between iron set and my driver or hybrid club)

need some advise on choosing the right driver and hybrid club (flex, degree, stiff, regular)?

    Thanks

Generally speaking, there are two ways to go about it.

Method 1: Try a bunch of different things - akin to trying on a bunch of different suits.

Method 2: Visit a clubfitter - akin to going to a tailor.

The right club is the one that's suited to your swing (and its elements) and body type, the turf you play on and the sand you play out of.

Most new (and not so new ) golfers find it harder to hit well with a driver and longer clubs.

Make sure you swing these clubs the same speed as your 7 iron, many try to swing them too fast, their length will create the clubhead speed. You also need to understand ball position with longer clubs, the ball needs to be further forward in your stance than irons.
