  • Superstitious

After reading Garcia's post on liking golf balls with high numbers:
I really hate number 1's for some reason. I like all the high numbers 4 and up. They say a lot of golfers are superstitious about things like this!
I figured it would be interesting to see what other peoples superstitions were.

My biggest superstition is there can not be a ball in the cup when I am putting. I will wait for the person who sank the putt to take the ball out or I will even take someone else's ball out of the cup myself before I shoot. It has something to do with there is only room for 1 ball in the hole or something crazy like that....

    Re: Superstitious

I cannot start a round with a new ball, I have to hit my first drive with an old ball. I usually break a new ball out on the 18th tee of the previous round just for that reason.

Also I hate marking my ball after I just miss a putt, I have to sink the return instantly or i think i will miss it (unless its over 3 feet then I mark)

I dont like wearing a waterproof jacket unless its really tumbling down either.

I have to keep a pencil behind my right ear for the whole round! It must be madness...

        Re: Superstitious

I only use no.1 & 2 gofl balls. Hate the high numbers. After a 3 jacking a hole with a number 3 ball one day. I came to the stupid conclusion that the number on the ball corresponded with the amount of putts I would take using that ball. Random, I know.

          Re: Superstitious

Oddly enough, I don't have any superstitions (maybe because I haven't been golfing that long?)

I guess the closest I've been is that when I had my old bag (a 4way divider, I now have a proline quicklok) every club had it's own spot - and couldn't go anywhere but in it's own home.

              What a great thread,

I have to play some easy listening music on the way to the course and hope no-one pulls out on me so I arrive relaxed.

I also have to be there at least an hour early or I play poor.

I have some natural tees I took the varnish off so I can chew on them during round. Helps me to gauge my tension level.

I have to use purple tees for my 3 wood and red or yellow tees for my driver during a round that counts.

I always carry 2 drivers in the bag.

I always tape the tip of the middle finger on my right hand before a round.
