  • This time its personal

I just came back from a site forum, me being an aussie should tell you what site it is. And if I memory serves, it is the same I referred to last. I don't want you to be dragged down so I'll make it brief. A master club builder came down for a huge bagging when his handicap was found to be 18. Personal attacks, challenges to games. Challenges for low handicappers to make clubs, lots of insults and and people taking sides. It was a dog fight. He was fighting for his reputation as he belonged to a well known Queensland club. I contacted him by phone as he was the only teacher of true length technology that I have located in OZ, He now only works for friends. And has a handicap of 8.

Welcome to one of the struggles of a clubfitter/clubmaker.

Loads of guys figure if you can't beat them "with your custom sticks" then you can't be very good.

I always respond with: I'm sure the top PGA pros could whup their swing coaches AND the guy who fits their clubs. Yet they still work with them.

Guys that can't realise that a clubfitter doesn't necessarily a golfer make; well; I don't have many words for them.

It's like saying your mechanic is no good because he's not Jimmy Johnson or Mikael Schumacher.

See, you see it. On this site, I really do believe that had it been brought up here, the shared decades of knowledge could have proved useful. I was heartened to see the support he found but I don't think it went passed the vitriol as far as being discussed. I wont be going there any more.
