  • What's the coldest weather you guys have ever played in?

I once played when it was in the 30's (may not seem to cold to those in the north), windy and in a light cold rain. Man it was so cold it was like hitting rocks, and the rain not only made my hands feel like ice cubes, it also made it hard to see where your ball went. I guess you can't expect much from a play-all-day $15.00 with a cart special.

I played in a pre-qualifier in Bristol in the UK. It was in mid-October 2002 and it was 3*C (36F) without the windchill factor. There was a strong wind off the sea and it rained all day.

For most of you it's probably not cold but coming from South Africa where our winters get no colder than 10*C (50*F) - it was FREEZING.

Anyway, when I got back to the hotel and had thawed in a shower I e-mailed by son and told it was so cold my "snot had frozen in my nostrils" - literally that is how cold it was. (Sorry I know it's disgusting - but it's true!).

I played in sleet once... outside temp ~ 2*C, but wet and windy. It was an interesting round - it was the first (and only!) time I've had all approach shots stop where they landed (because the greens were drenched and half frozen).

We have a course locally that is right up the top of a hill and it actually snowed in MAY!!!! We were playing a medal and at the 4th tee the flakes started falling it dropped to about freezing in 5 minutes and we stopped playing for 30 minutes until it stopped. We were frozen by the time we got to the turn because we played on because the snow didnt lie. The north wind had big huge fangs tho.
