    Re: This is harsh!!

Not to be rude, Ricky, but I'm sure he didn't give your mate a new set of irons to 'get at you'. Your friend's relationship with his instructor has nothing to do with you.

          Re: This is harsh!!

Grow up Ricky.......this will destroy your game and your friendship if you let it eat you up. Did you buy your clubs with your own money? If so, well done, you owe no one anything and can take the moral high ground. Do you know for a fact that these irons are his to keep forever? And if I may say £350 of Mizuno isnt a lot of club. Are they MX-15?

It sounds very much like your mate has simply got himself in with the 'Man' at the club. This happens all the time, golf is very cliquey, I'm afraid, its one of the problems the game has always had, it's a matter of faces fitting. There is always one junior at every club who is considered especially promising and is given all kinds of help and advice whilst the others struggle on.

I think you would be advised to do one of the following:

Stop being mates....you wont have to see what is happening

          Leave the club

Stop patronising the pro shop and take your business elsewhere theres plenty places to choose from

Use it as a spur to be the best Junior at the club.

This sounds like bitterness at its worst Ricky, I know it is easy to say dont let it affect you but it obviously does. I cant really help you with that. But beleive me I know exactly how you feel. If you allow this to destroy your game you will have in essence let the Pro win if he really is being petty towards you. Make your goal the Junior Championship this year and whatever you do achieve sleep sound in the knowledge that it was all your own work. Also ask yourself what you would do in your friends position. I would imagine you would have a set of Mizuno's in your bag right now, No?

          Keep your chin up,

          D.

              Hey Ricky,

Move clubs my man ... find another golf club near you that you can join. I agree to some extent that what the PGA pro is doing isn't nice but there is zero you can do about it.

Don't buy from his shop either ...

It's a tough one but if you're not comfortable at the club because of him, move clubs.

                Re: This is harsh!!

Sorry Ricky but I totally agree with Mizunoman.

Use this new found hate/rage to your advantage, be determined to be the best junior, show them.

Buddy life is not fair if you want to see it that way, you can sulk and say it's not fair or get your butt out their and prove a point.
Another sad but true fact is not everyone is nice and friendly but thats their problem don't turn it into yours, sleep easy knowing you are a good person and bugger the rest, you cant change them so ignore the pro.
Finally I'm not sure I would change clubs until I've proved my point.

                Whip em on the course

                  Re: This is harsh!!

                  Ricky,

Cheer up son, in life you meet people that take an instant dislike to you for no reason, just as you feel you known people for ages who you have only just meet.

As for the Pro, he is providing a service to all members and needs some training in customer service even if he dislikes you....You should speak to him everytime you see him and don't give him a chance to ignore you, rise above ignoring people make them speak.

I would not consider moving clubs because of him, as the others have said "paddle your own canoe" just do what you do best, win as much as possible with your own clubs paid for by you.

As for giving £350.00 clubs away your mate must be an up and coming star or the clubs must be knocked off or replicas, no-one in business gives away that much, perhapes he need training in this aspect of his job aswell.

Enjoy your game thats what its all about mate.

                  Ian.

                      Ricky,

I think you might have blown it all out of proportion. Pros give out DEMO clubs all the time.

You said your mate buys all his clubs off the internet, so the pro was probably just trying to get your get your mate to buy off him. If the pro knows him well, he probably thought your mate would like them.

Im sure if you asked the pro that you were thinkin of a new club and your pro had a demo club of it he would lend you it...provided you don't muck about around the club.

                          Ricky

I think most of us are a fan of teaching pro. If you do get lessions make sure the guys good, there's alot of advice out there and its not all good. You will come across coaches where after one lesson you're sure you've wasted your money and you probably have so choose carefully.
Talk to some of the senior golfers about who coaches them, I certainly wouldn't take lessions from the pro at my club and you don't have to.Just because they're there doesn't mean you have to use them.
But remember just because the pro wasn't a top golfer he may still be a fantastic coach, Charlie Earp is a good example of that.
Don't you dare say who's Charlie Earp

Coached Norman, Webb and a couple of other handy golfers.
