Re: Golf Stores vs Ebay
You can't beat a good pro, who is interested in you returning one day for more stuff.
By all means buy your stuff on e-bay but if you don't know what the flex is and the kick point to match your swing, you could end up kicking yourself...
The best way to go is turn pro and then get all your gear free?

Amen to that. Beware (ie don't bid) on anyone selling OEMs from China... they're fakes. Always compare their pics to pics from the OEM website... better yet, send an email to the OEMS, and ask if the auction looks legit. Quite often, it isn't.

Re: Golf Stores vs Ebay
I dunno Low Post, my mate bought some Taylor Made clubs from a E-Bayer in singapore and they were ok. I had a good look at them and they look the real deal.
The problem with pro's is that they cant compete price wise. They sell a set of irons for £50 more than the superstores so what are you going to do? Wait three weeks for your pro to get a set in with your spec or buy them the same day from Nevada Bob or one of the websites??? Its killing the club Pro, most of them now franchise their shops out to one of the buying groups. The prices are still a bit higher but not as much. A lot of pro's are hamstrung by tiny shops where they can keep loads of balls and tees and so on but not many sets of clubs.
I try and spend at least £150-200 a year at my local pro, mostly vouchers from club competitions I admit but I could easily take the cash and go up to Nevada bobs and get the same thing for a few quid less. With an average club membership sitting at 1000 members thats £150,000 to £200,000 a year!!!!
At 20% profit for the pro thats £30,000-£40,000 through the shop in a season. Enough to let him recruit an Assistant and help the next generation of club Pro's on their way.
Surely you all must spend a similar amount on stuff in a year. Why not support your pro and give him the money rather than the faceless corporation. Theres an upside as well. My pro is mindful of the members that actively support his shop. More than once I have gotten a bag of tees, a pencil, even a visitor on for free if the course is quiet. Its not much of course but thats not the point. It's a nice thing to do and theres so little niceness around these days.

Hey Mizuno,
Here's a couple links where I first became weary of China sellers...

Re: Golf Stores vs Ebay
I know there are alot of fakes on ebay, but when you do see some you can tell straight away there fakes, but then there are others with just small difrences but the look real! but if you bought it you would know, as the materials are diffretnt as well.
