Can some one please clarify this question for me, what’s the situation if your ball plugs on the fairway. I know winter rules allow ball to be picked up, cleaned etc, but what about during normal play. Rules go on about low cut grass anywhere up to green, does this mean anywhere on the fairway or just on and around the green? We always allow ball to be picked up and placed during friendly play so as not to needlessly take big chunks out of the fairway without penalty but not sure if this is actually the correct procedure.

A new highlight: Golfing the home course on Christmas Day.
I say it too often: If it's golf club shaped, you can play with it.
For the record, I'm a club doctor, not a swing doctor.

Re: Plugged Lie?
Under Rule 25-2, a player may only take relief from a ball that is embedded in a closely-mown area through the green. A closely-mown area is any area that is mowed to fairway height or less.
