  • Thanks GTO!!! :>

Finally broke par Today!! Was in a medal at a par 71, 6400 yd course, that i was only playing for the second time. Played well and started solidly, getting 7 pars and 2 bogeys in the front 9, then i shot 3 under for the back nine!! !!!! shot a 1 under 70 overall, first time ive ever broken par (actually never got par?? lol)!!!!!! had a 4 foot putt for birdie on the last for a 69! but did the exact same as Olazabal and pulled it under pressure lol but ah well i got over it, it went:

    Hole 1 - Par 4
    Hole 2 - Par 5
    Hole 3 - Bogey 5
    Hole 4 - Par 3
    Hole 5 - Bogey 5
    Hole 6 - Par 4
    Hole 7 - Par 5
    Hole 8 - Par 3
    Hole 9 - Par 4

    Hole 10 - Par 4
    Hole 11 - Par 5
    Hole 12 - Birdie 2
    Hole 13 - Par 4
    Hole 14 - Birdie 2
    Hole 15 - Par 4
    Hole 16 - Birdie 3
    Hole 17 - Par 4
    Hole 18 - Par 4

Now got my handicap to 4 which im happy about

Just like to thank everyone at GTO lol as they've helped me a lot and probably wouldnt have shot this with out you guys!!! (if they had a kiss icon i'd use it lol)

    Great news Rich,

I did the similar early this year with a par round of 70, it's a great feeling although I know what you mean about the nerves, I thought I needed a shrink after, the last two hole were exhausting................

Just need to ajust your profile now, I too have learned alot from some of the guys at this site........it's your job now to help others.

Good luck for the next comp and well done again.

    Ian.

Well done Richie. I am interested however if what would you say helped you the most out of all the info/drills you have received off this site.

The drill that helped me the most was the one where i read about correcting swing plane. Was struggling with a very flat swing plane last year into this year, but i read on GTO that it u take your set up against a wall (back to the wall) then swing, your club head shouldnt hit the wall until at least above head height. This will mean u are taking the club up not aroun ure body. I worked on this for a while and now my swing plane is much improved and my ball flight is much better.

The swing analysis (i put on swing videos GTO) by the pros helped as they identified what i was doing wrong. Also the rope drill that was given to me helped and generally tips like if u dropped the club directly down at the top of your backswing it should rest on your shoulder.

Shot a 2 over at my club today, which is really long and hard, really feel like i've turned a corner and don't get scared when i'm putting a low score together. I used to be like 'o my god im only 1 over after 11, then bogey the rest of the holes because i thought about it too much'.
