Hi i was at the course this week with a couple of friends, my friend was in the bunker and over it it a great deal and to the left and his ball hit my other friends bag. Whats the deal is it a penalty, reshot?????????????????? i have no idea
If the owner of the bag was NOT the player's partner then there is no penalty - it is an outside agency. The ball must be played as it lies. (Rule 19-1 and 19-4.)
If the other player was his partner, in match play the penalty is loss of hole or in stroke play, a two stroke penalty. (rule 19-2). D
Quote of the month:
"It's easy to see golf not as a game at all but as some whey-faced, nineteenth-century Presbyterian minister's fever dream of exorcism achieved through ritual and self-mortification." ~Bruce McCall
Does that mean after I hit my shot on a Par 3, and a dog picks it up and puts it in the hole, it counts as a hole in one ?
Can my opponent do the same thing?
I think I might get a mate to come out with me at my next medal and I'll use him to get me 18 consecutive 'holes in one!'
Out of curiosity, this happened on the PGA Tour a few years back when a bird stole a player's ball of the green and dropped it into the water. Does this mean that the player had to go play from the drop zone?
Similar thing happened to Daly on the playoff hole at Houston. Some stupid camera man accidently kicked the ball while taking some photos. He would be allowed to place the ball if they knew the exact location. But since they didn't he had to drop as close as he could. Unfortunately for him the ball was sitting up before the camera man kicked it and we he dropped it, it went to a horrible lie. Wouldn't of mattered though, Vijay would of won it anyway.
Ok, this may seem ridicolous but what if you hit a shot and while it's in the air a bird nabs it and drops it in the hole? Can this be done if you stick a friend up a tree and aim up at the tree, getting him to catch it and put it in the hole?
Curiosity again, although, I'd never try and cheat to improve my score.
Gonna keep trying 'til I find a loop hole and can therefore achieve 18 holes in one !
Tough to say what happens while the ball is still in flight. I would guess that it's completely legal - it'd be no different if you broadsided a groundhog - you'd play your ball where it lay.
As for your friend in a tree - it's a 2 stroke penalty as your ball is moved by someone acting with your authority and on your behalf.
So then theoretically, if you could hit him in every tree, and he could make a perfect ****, you could get your round done scoring 3 on every hole.
That is a weird question to ask if a bird picked a ball going typically over 100 mph out of the air. Personally i thing the bird would die if it made contact with your ball.
