  • Condo, Net, Grass....

I live in a Condo in Toronto and I am trying to find a cheaper way to practise golf – as opposed to the golf range a few times a week.. I am thinking of buying one of those Nets which catch the balls (are they strong enough for drives…) and putting the Net in my sister’s backyard. I am wondering if any one has devised a home made remedy for protecting the grass…. I am thinking perhaps some cardboard…. I thought this way, at least, I can practice hitting down on the ball.

I would appreciate hearing from anyone who has some less expensive ways of practising this majestic game!

    Thanks,

    James

Also has anyone moved up from a lower lofted driver say 9.5 to a higher lofted driver with success – I read recently that a driver with a 11 degree loft will go further… the magazine used a robotic arm , same balls, conditions, etc.

    Hi James,

In the UK there is a company called Rotanet www.rotanet.co.uk this may give you an idea on design.

I've heard you can do it with blankets and washing lines, which will work.

As for protecting the turf, I suggest you purchase a second hand mat from the driving range.

    Hope this helps

    Ian.

As for the driver distance, it depends on the players swing and many other things like the shaft flex and kick point to determine trajectory and distance
