  • Not so much glory as stupidity...

...but I couldn't think where else to put this thread.

Last sunday, having shot my best round at my local course (still too high to mention though ), I managed to leave my pitching wedge on the 18th. This I only found out on wednesday night. I rang the club/pro shop this morning and thankfully someone had handed it in. Thank you whoever that was!!! Not that it was expensive, but it did match the rest of my set and buying a replacement would've been time consuming and meant that I couldn't afford to play this weekend.

My question is has anyone else lost a club or some such item through a moment of stupidity or bad luck? (mine was definitely stupidity...)

I was playing at my local par 3 last year in March. Being England it was very wet and there is a lake on the last hole, the 9th with a very steep bank.

I hit my sandwedge shot then walked to the green. The ground gave way and i slid down the bank into the lake, with my sandwedge still in hand, and swam about for a bit before getting out. I dropped my sandwedge in an attempt to get out and its still in that bloody lake! lol

I have left a pitching wedge on a hole also but my dumbest golfing moment had to be in the Kingman Comp last year. I bet the rest of my group that i could hit this house off the left of the fairway and i wasted my drive doing that and ended up doubling the hole. O well!

        My favourite moment ever:

I was quite young, 12 or 13, and golfing with my father. My dad has quite areputation for having a foul temper. He was never good at chipping the ball so as soon as he got inside 30 yards he would try to putt the ball on the green. Well, in one of these attempts he managed to only get the ball 1/2 way to teh green. On his second attempt, he again failed to get the ball on the green. He was furious and through his putter. It went whrilling through the air, straight for the flag. The putter shaft hit the flag stick and broke his putter shaft in half!!!!! I still laugh uncontrollable when I tell the story.

I was feeling a bit brave and purchased a 3 sleeve pack of Nike Black for 12 dollars. On the first hole, hit a flyer pitch shot in the drink behind 1st hole. Needless to say, took out my Noodle for rest of the round! I am not ready to lose expensive balls. I've seen guys spend countless minutes looking for their Pro V1 balls.
