Did anyone or has anyone listened to Michelle in an interview? "Ya know, Like...awesome...ya know"...

Don't get me wrong here, I love what she is doing and will do to this game. Something to the order of what Woods did when he shook the trees. It makes me laugh every time I hear her...until I see her swing. Then I shut right up.

Don't forget you're talking to, you know, like, a teenager...

      Re: Wie-ism

Yea, its gnarly, just wait until someone, like, gets hold of her and, you know, beats all the individuality out of her, kinda.....

I like hearing sports people talk like normal human beings instead of these rent a cliche types that are legion on the tours now.

I still think the press are going to ruin this girl, and thats a great shame. But whats even more of a shame is that there was an outside chance that she could have nicked an Open spot from a hardworking honest Joe Pro on the basis of an invite made simply to boost crowd figures. The final bastion of effort awarding sport that is golf is slowly being swallowed by the machine....we can but weep....but it is good to see her have a charge at the Public Links, thats all her own work and if she were to make it and get to Augusta she deserves it.

Wie will continue to choke until she starts playing with her own age and learns how to dominate. Earth to Michelle - play amatuers and learn to win. Yes, competing with the men is a big accomplishment, but winning is much more important. You need to know how to play with a lead and how to hold a lead to be a great player. Anyone can just play well knowing they have no hope of winning. And when she comes close to putting up winning numbers on the LPGA, she chokes, just like she choked when she all but made the cut at the John Deere Classic.

I think Wie is a great talent and has accomplished a LOT, but she really needs to learn from what Tiger did at that age to be what Tiger is now.

I cringed when I heard Mike Ritz say to her at the John Deere "well youve proved you can make the cut out here".

What utter nonsense, if she had proven that she would have played 72 holes not 36.

Im just glad it wasnt Rich lerner that had been there. Save me from reporters that have read a book........

She definately has a TON of talent, but I fear her "managers" and the press will run her into the ground. You have to remember, she's a young teenager, she's not really making any big decisions regarder her career.

              She's barely 16! Jeez!

Morgan Pressel is going to be the better pro. She's like, "Totally awesome man!"

Paula Creamer will dominate them both.

                    Re: Wie-ism

I've gotta disagree with your view on Wies' attitude, Rick.

She doesn't have the same determination that Tiger does. She has no idea how to hold a lead. While I can't disagree with her turning pro (I would too, for $10M in endorsements), I thought it would be good for her to learn to dominate the amateurs (and learn to win - and learn to dominate) before stepping up.

Skill-wise, she's good enough to be there, but I don't know how she'll fare mentally.

She should become fast friends with Ms. Sorenstam (or Dr. Rotella), if she knows whats good for her.

I respectfully disagree lowpost. Paula had a nice Solheim but I think she's soft. I don't really like her swing either. Pressel is the girl to watch. Did you see her win the US Amateur? I did, and she has a devastating wedge game. The pro's make their bread and butter with the wedge. She also has that Tiger edge.

I'll agree that Pressel has some mad skills, and that fire in her belly. But Creamer has that 'confidence of a champion' as well.

Overall, I'd say the LPGA will be pretty darn good (read: not the Annika Sorenstam show) in the near future.

I was watching an LPGA event here and there, but now I'm obsessed after the Solheim. So many good stories and great competition!

Creamer was awesome. She talked the talk and walked the walk.

Saw Wie's press conference today. She has the game but she is so immature. I don't mean that in a bad way. She just acts every bit of 15. She will have a rough go of it playing with the men. She should just stick to the LPGA.

This will probably go over like a lead balloon. Don't think you should be allowed to turn pro until you're 18. That aside, She hasn't even come near to the hype. She can't hold her own yet with the women and yet she still talks about wanting to play with the men. I think her parents need to get a grip and start stearing her in the right direction. Instead they seem to be puting the $ first. I'm guessing she'll burn out before she ever gets going. In a couple of years Wie will be a never really was.

                              bythatmuch,

                              The LPGA agrees with you.

Wie has turned pro (given up her amateur status) to compete in mens' events, and start collecting on Sony and Nike sponsorships.
