    grip pressure

    what is the grip pressure supposed to be between the left hand and right hand.
    Are you supposed to grip the club tighter with the left hand than with the right hand????
    I have read that the backswing is controlled by the left hand and arm and hence i am assuming that the right hand grip pressure is more lighter than the left.

    However sometimes when i grip it with negligible pressure on the right hand and most of the pressure on the left hand i start hooking the ball like crazy!!!!!!
    And as soon as I start applying a bit of pressure on the right hand my shots start going straighter.

    You should defintely try to grip with equal pressure betwen both hands. If you are gripping very loose with one hand, the other hand will be forced to grip tigher to compensate. Remeber, only grip the club enough to keep it flying out of your hands.

      Think about this:
      --The two hands work together.
      --Firmer is better than weaker.
      --Where your right palm contacts the left thumb should be snug enough that if you put a blade of grass in-between, the grass would not fall out during your swing. I find this thought alone works wonders to make firm impact.

        all my life i have been gripping the club withj much more pressure on the left hand...can that cause me to start hooking wildly????

        i thought i needed 2 do that because the club is to be picked up with the left hand and arm and i thought the best way to do that was gripping it harder with the left hand....guess i was wrong about that huh???

          What a great Idea, I think for my first post I'll back up the hold the club loosely but not loose enough to let it fly out of your hands. Sadly, that is how I lost my 9-iron on July 4th weekend and on a practice swing no less!

          Last time a saw it, it was flying at a good clip about 30 yds and then sank to the bottom of a waterhazzard. Shame.
