  • New Irons are 10-15 yards shorter? Wrong set?

I previously was hitting the Titleist 762's. I just purchased the Titlesit 804 OS. I was sold on the fact that this club increased my ball flight. The launch montior clearly showed this. The simulation also showed the distance to be about right. However when I got to the course the irons were considerably shorter. The ball flight was nice but usually I hit an 8 iron 145-153. I was lucky to hit it in the 135-140 range. Can I adjust the lie or should I go down to a 704 CB. I was told that this would be a better club for a 15 handicapper. I do like the feel it just seems like I cant swing as hard with this club and it feels different. However the ball flight is nice. Any ideas or suggestions by any PGA professionals would be nice (or anyone for that matter)

Ps I had my swing measured on my driver...the average swing speed was 105 mph. Now I cant even hit a PW a solid 125

I am willing to bet that the new clubs have stiff shafts and the old clubs have a regular flex shaft.

Distance has little to do with the clubhead. I am willing to bet the new irons are much more accurate, so you have to ask yourself, do you want distance that isn't as well controlled OR do you want to contriol your ball well and loose a club on ditance...

      both have stiff shafts...but alas...
I played from the tips of my club the other day 7049 yards....shot a 87
(i average 85 from the next tees up at 6580)

Played Crooked Stick this morning (site of the 2005 solheim cup, Eat your hearts out Euros) Shot a 83 in a shamble (pick best drive everyone plays ball drom there, i would say we used my drive 60% of the time. and another 41 on the back nine of my club this afternoon from the tips.

bottom line; I am somehow hitting these clubs just as far as before. The other day I guess was a "honing" in experience. I am hitting these clubs higher, straighter, and further in most cases. I am actually finding that I can hit the 8 iron a true 150. Meaning it hits around 145 and stops at 150. Before I hit around 137 and let it roll 13 yards.

The above are not great scores or anything. I just feel like these irons put me in better position to score. I will still keep these irons just in case. However, I do believe when I dial these clubs in I will be lowering the handicap to single digits just because of going to a more forgiving club. I would reccomend the 804's to anyone that wants to improve their iron play that may have trouble with their current irons.
